IBO Player & IBO Pro Player — Complete Setup Guide

Set up IBO Player and IBO Pro on any device. Xtream Codes activation, MAC-based licensing, EPG setup, and troubleshooting.

What Is IBO Player?

IBO Player (also known as IBO Pro Player in its premium version) has quietly become one of the most popular IPTV apps on Samsung and LG Smart TVs. While apps like TiviMate dominate the Firestick market, IBO Player carved out its niche by being one of the first reliable IPTV players available natively on Smart TV app stores. If you own a Samsung or LG TV and do not want to plug in a Firestick, IBO is probably the app your IPTV provider recommended.

The app works on a MAC-based licensing system. Each TV is identified by a unique MAC address, which your IPTV provider uses to activate your subscription on that specific device. IBO Player supports Xtream Codes API login, which is the method most UK providers use — you enter a server URL, username, and password, and your channels load automatically with EPG data.

IBO Player vs IBO Pro Player

IBO Player is the free version with basic functionality. It works, but you may see occasional ads, and some features like multiple playlist support and advanced EPG settings are locked. IBO Pro Player is the paid upgrade — a one-time purchase of approximately 5 to 8 pounds depending on the platform. Pro removes all ads, unlocks multi-playlist support, and adds an improved EPG grid view. If you plan to use IBO daily, the Pro version is worth the small investment.

Installation

Samsung Smart TV

Open the Samsung App Store from your TV home screen. Search for “IBO Player” or “IBO Pro Player”. Install the app. When you open it for the first time, it displays a device ID and MAC address on screen. Note these down — you will need to send the MAC address to your IPTV provider for activation, or use it to configure the app on the IBO Player website.

LG Smart TV

Open the LG Content Store. Search for “IBO Player”. The installation process is identical to Samsung — install, open, note your MAC address, and proceed to activation.

Amazon Firestick

IBO Player is available in the Amazon App Store for some regions. Search for it directly. If not available, you can sideload it via the Downloader method.

Adding Your IPTV Subscription via Xtream Codes

Once IBO Player is installed, you have two setup methods. The first and recommended method is Xtream Codes API. In the app, navigate to Settings or Login, select “Xtream Codes API”, and enter your server URL, username, and password exactly as your provider gave them. Tap Connect or Login. The app connects to your provider's server and loads your full channel list with categories and EPG data.

The second method is portal-based activation. Visit the IBO Player activation website on your phone or computer, enter the device ID shown on your TV, upload your M3U URL or Xtream Codes details, and save. Restart the app on your TV and your channels appear. This method is useful if entering text with a TV remote is too cumbersome.

Troubleshooting

App Shows “No Active Subscription”

This usually means the app's own licence has expired (IBO Player requires periodic re-activation, separate from your IPTV subscription). Visit the IBO Player website, re-enter your device ID, and reactivate. If you are using IBO Pro, this should not occur as frequently.

Channels Load But Show Black Screen

Try switching the video player engine in IBO's settings. Some Samsung and LG TV models have compatibility issues with the default decoder. Switching between the internal player and the external player option often resolves this.
